Why Publish a Special Issue with Hindawi? – Video Transcript

Conventional issues of an academic journal collect papers together as they’re published. While the papers will be aligned with the journal’s aims and scope, they may cover a range of topics within the discipline.

Special issues are organized around a specific topic or theme. All the papers published in a special issue will share a common theme, creating a tightly focused selection of papers – ideal for a reader interested in that specific topic.

Special issues allow you, as a guest editor, to compile a collection of articles that you find compelling, or of particular contemporary significance. Guest editing a special issue not only helps to promote research on your chosen topic, but also helps to establish you as an authority on the subject. Contributing authors also benefit, as their papers are likely to receive more exposure to readers by being presented alongside relevant articles.

You’ll begin by defining a title and scope for your special issue. Hindawi will then circulate your proposal amongst the journal’s editorial board members for approval. Providing your proposal is accepted, we’ll assist you in distributing a ‘call for papers’ to other specialists working in your field. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute an editorial, which summarizes the aims and scope of the special issue, as well as providing your own review article for inclusion. There’s no Article Processing Charge for either of these.

Once your special issue is published, it’ll be made available in its entirety on Hindawi.com. Hindawi only publishes Open Access articles, so the contents of your special issue will always be freely available to all readers.
