Kudos to help magnify our authors’ published research

We are working with Kudos to help our authors to maximize the visibility and readership of their work.

We are happy to announce a new partnership with Kudos, the award-winning service for accelerating research impact through strategic communications management. Kudos’ platform for explaining research in plain language, and its service for enabling researchers to share, track and evaluate their research communications, are in close strategic alignment with our commitment to putting the researcher first, and making science easy to find, share and understand.

We have signed up with Kudos as part of our strategy to put the researcher at the heart of Hindawi and to ensure the work we publish on behalf of the academic community can be shared, read and understood on numerous platforms and devices. This partnership will increase the distribution and reach of our content, and allow many more researchers to access and understand papers published by Hindawi authors, explains Sarah Greaves, our Chief Publishing Officer. “Kudos is a recognized tool for public engagement, and this fits perfectly with our plans to serve the academic community with improved author, editor and researcher tools and services.

We’re excited about being able to further support authors in sharing their research through our partnership with Kudos. We strive to put the researcher first and so being able to help them share their research as best they can fits well with our ethos,” adds Mathias Astell, Director of Marketing at Hindawi. “Additionally, the insights Kudos can provide about research communication more broadly will enhance the way we promote research published in Hindawi journals and ensure we provide the best guidance to authors on how they can help their research be widely read and understood.

I’m delighted to welcome Hindawi to the Kudos community,” concludes Colin Caveney, Head of Publisher Business Development at Kudos. “A substantial number of their authors have already been using Kudos’ free service to manage communications of their work; they will now benefit from more streamlined workflows and more data against which they can evaluate the success of their efforts.

For examples of how our authors are already using Kudos to explain their work in plain language, enhance it with links to related resources, and manage sharing across both online and offline channels, see:

About Kudos
Over 275,000 researchers have signed up to use Kudos’ free platform for managing communications around their publications – across multiple publishers and tools. They explain work in plain language and generate trackable links for sharing via email, web and social networks; these enable communications to be directly mapped against views, downloads, altmetrics and citations. Kudos thereby provides researchers, and their publishers and institutions, with a rich understanding of which channels and activities are most effective for broadening reach and impact. Kudos has over 100 publisher, institutional, society and corporate customers around the world. Recent analysis of Kudos data indicates that growth in full text downloads on the publisher site is 23% higher when the Kudos toolkit is used. Kudos won the 2015 ALPSP Award for Innovation in Publishing and has been named in Outsell’s “Ten to Watch” for three consecutive years; Outsell recently assigned a “positive” rating to Kudos’ new “shareable PDF, describing it as a “a pragmatic solution to a key industry issue”.
